The Incident
On 7 March 2026, three teenagers were arrested by Singapore Police for robbery with hurt — all within just 16 hours of the crime taking place.
The suspects had allegedly arranged to meet a 34-year-old male victim under the pretext of purchasing his One Piece trading cards worth approximately $8,000. Instead of completing the transaction, the teenagers assaulted him and stole the items.
The Singapore Police Force confirmed the arrests and investigations are ongoing.
Don't Play Play, Singapore Got Eyes Everywhere
Let's be very clear — this is Singapore.
CCTV cameras are on almost every street corner, void deck, MRT, bus, shopping mall, and park. When you commit a crime here, it is not a matter of if you get caught — it's a matter of when.
Sixteen hours. That's all it took for police to identify and arrest all three suspects. No escape, no bluffing your way out.
Trading Cards Are Not Worth Your Future
One Piece cards can be valuable — some chase cards fetch hundreds, even thousands of dollars. But no card, no matter how rare, is worth:
- A criminal record that follows you for life
- Losing your place in school or polytechnic
- Jail time and a caning sentence
- Your parents' heartbreak
- Throwing away the best years of your life
A Word to the TCG Community
The TCG hobby in Singapore is built on passion, community, and respect. The overwhelming majority of collectors, traders, and players are decent folks who love the hobby for the right reasons.
Incidents like this are a painful reminder to stay safe when meeting strangers for card trades:
- Trade in public, well-lit places — void decks, hawker centres, community centres
- Bring a friend for high-value meetups
- Trust your gut — if something feels off, walk away
- Record the deal — a quick photo of the cards and the person can go a long way
