Travelling to Singapore for a TCG trip with family? Singapore is compact, safe and family-friendly, so non-playing family members have plenty to do while one of you is at the cards. This guide focuses on a family travelling for a card event — transport, meals, weather and things to do — rather than generic tourism.
Where to base yourselves
Staying near an MRT station keeps everything easy with children. Being close to Singapore EXPO or Changi suits event-centred days; the city centre puts you nearer sightseeing. See the hotels and transport guide for the trade-offs.
Getting around with children — child restraints
This matters for safety. In a private-hire car (such as Grab), passengers below 1.35 m in height must be secured by an appropriate child restraint or a booster with the seat belt. Because private-hire rides are booked, request a child seat or a larger vehicle at booking (Grab offers options such as GrabFamily, which may carry a surcharge), or bring your own restraint. Taxis are exempt from the child-seat requirement, but a child seat is still safer. The MRT is stroller-friendly and often the simplest option. Verify current rules with LTA and your provider.
Meals
Malls near Expo and Jewel Changi Airport have familiar, kid-friendly food and seating; see the food guide. Confirm halal status and hours per outlet.
Weather and rest
Singapore is hot and humid year-round with frequent short downpours. Plan indoor, air-conditioned activities for the midday heat, carry water, and build in rest time — young children tire quickly in the humidity.
Things to do for non-playing family members
These are all popular with families; check each attraction's official website for current opening hours, tickets and any conditions before you go:
- Jewel Changi Airport — indoor gardens and attractions right by the airport, easy to combine with an arrival or departure day.
- Gardens by the Bay — large gardens and conservatories in the city centre.
- Sentosa — island with beaches and family attractions.
- Mandai Wildlife Reserve — the zoo and wildlife parks.
